V4 Load Audit

Your numbers, not industry averages.

What kind of setup is this?

Pick one. This decides which questions show up below.

Add your equipment

One unit at a time: a tractor, a trailer, an APU, a reefer unit, anything that costs money. A paid-off unit still costs money, so every unit gets a maintenance and repair figure. Loaded, empty-with-trailer and bobtail mpg are three separate numbers and are never assumed equal.

The big things

Engine rebuild, APU, transmission, a set of tires. Cost ÷ miles it lasts = the cents per mile you set aside for it. Each one is shown by name.

Last year's numbers instead

The whole business at once, read off the tax return. Fill this in either way: total miles and total gallons are what spread your fixed costs and give you a true mpg. If you put a cost on a unit above, the matching field here switches off and tells you where the figure already came from, so no dollar is entered twice.

Fuel economy

Payments

Monthly payment and how many months are left. Payments are a real annual cost. If a unit above carries a payment, the matching field here switches off.

Fuel, crew and margin

Payload — what's left for freight

Legal payload = max gross − tractor empty − trailer empty − fuel aboard. The empty weight that limits you is the tractor's plus the trailer's, so the tractor's is asked for here.

The load test

Fuel is not the same price per mile loaded, empty or bobtail, so each one is priced on its own. The rate is always measured on total miles, loaded plus deadhead.
